High Expectations

High expectations – The St Albans Promise

At St Alban’s we work with parents to encourage children to develop as fully as possible. As well as making good academic progress we want to help our students to grow socially, personally, spiritually and morally. Students, parents and teachers each sign a home-school agreement, demonstrating our shared commitment to making the effort to ensure that each child succeeds. Copies of the home school agreement can be viewed on our website www.stalbansacademy.org or in the parents’ handbook.

Academy Declaration

  • The academy will have high expectations of all its students and will provide a secure, supportive, Christian environment in which each student is encouraged to grow in their own faith.
  • The academy will provide high quality teaching and a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs of all its students, including those with special needs.
  • The academy will keep parents informed about the progress of their child and will let them know immediately if there are concerns about their learning or behaviour.
  • Academy staff will treat all students with respect.

As a learning community founded on high expectations and the pursuit of excellence we:

  • maintain the highest possible expectations of students and staff,
  • set high standards and challenge students and staff to reach them,
  • ensure that all students make outstanding progress in their learning and achieve qualifications at the highest possible level so that all students have the qualifications to progress to further and higher education and to a rewarding career.

We want students to graduate from St Alban’s Academy with the skills, qualifications and enthusiasm to:

  • be successful in further and higher education and in their career
  • be good citizens who help make the world a better place
  • provide principled leadership in their community and workplace
  • be lifelong learners
  • be strong and effective parents and supportive family members
  • live and work in peace and harmony with others
  • be aware of the spiritual needs of others, appreciating and respecting the values and beliefs of all cultures and religions
