Ofsted and Church of England inspections

Ofsted report November 2007

"St Alban’s is a good school. It is totally committed to encouraging all students to learn to the best of their ability and to ‘challenge every individual to make the most of their God-given talents’ as stated in its mission statement.

Students’ personal development and well-being are good and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. Their excellent attendance is evidence of the positive way they view learning and enjoy school."

Church of England inspection

All schools with a denominational ethos are inspected by their religious authorities to evaluate their effectiveness as a church school (known as a section 48 inspection). In its most recent inspection of St Albans in December 2007 the section 48 inspector said:

"St Alban’s College is an outstanding Church of England school. The leadership is strong and effective with a clear educational rationale and a Christian vision of how the college can and does contribute to the Anglican mission in education.”
